GPA Calculator — Weighted Grade Point Average

GPA — grade point average — is the single number admissions offices, scholarship committees and employers use to compress a transcript. This calculator computes it the way registrars do: each letter grade converts to grade points (A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3 and so on down to F = 0), each course's points are multiplied by its credit hours, and the total is divided by the total credits. That credit weighting is what most quick calculators skip — and why their answers differ from your transcript.

Add as many courses as you need, pick a letter grade and enter the credits for each; the weighted average updates as you type. Rows can be removed or added at any time, so it is just as quick to model next semester ('what happens to my GPA if I get a B in statistics?') as to check the current one.

The scale switcher converts everything in one click. The 4.0 scale is the US standard; the 5.0 view stretches it linearly for systems graded out of five; the 100-point view maps letters to conventional percent-band midpoints (A = 95, B = 85, C = 75…). Whatever scale you pick, the result panel also shows the equivalents on the other two, which is handy when a foreign application form asks for your average in an unfamiliar system.

Everything is computed locally in your browser — your grades are never uploaded, stored or shared. Note that institutions differ in details (some use A+ = 4.3, some grade F as 55 on the 100-point scale), so treat converted values as close estimates and your registrar's number as official.
