"What do I need on the final?" is the question every student asks in exam week, and this final grade calculator answers it in one step. Enter your current grade in the course, the final grade you want to walk away with, and how much the final exam is worth, and it tells you the exact score you need on the exam — plus the best and worst final grades that are still mathematically possible.
The formula is the standard one used by schools and universities that compute a course grade as a weighted mix: required = (desired − current·(1−w)) / w, where w is the exam weight as a fraction. If the exam is worth 40% and you are sitting on 88% aiming for 90%, the calculator instantly shows you need a 93 — and whether that is comfortable, tight, or impossible. When even a zero on the final keeps you above your goal, it says so; when even a perfect 100 cannot get you there, it tells you that too, so you can renegotiate the goal instead of the impossible.
The second mode is a weighted average calculator for up to five grades: homework, quizzes, midterms, projects — each with its own weight. It multiplies every grade by its weight, divides by the total weight, and shows the full breakdown, so it works whether your weights sum to 100 or are plain points. It is the quickest way to reconstruct your course grade from a syllabus grading table.
Everything runs locally in your browser: no sign-up, no server, and your grades never leave your device. Check a what-if before the exam, verify the number in the syllabus spreadsheet, or plan which assignment deserves your remaining study hours.
