Typing Speed Test — Free WPM Test
Measure your typing speed in WPM with live word highlighting, accuracy percentage, and error count.

This free typing speed test measures how fast and how accurately you type. Pick a duration — 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes — click the input field, and start copying the text shown above it. The timer starts with your first keystroke, every finished word is instantly colored green or red, and when the time runs out you get three numbers: words per minute (WPM), accuracy as a percentage, and the total error count.
WPM is calculated the standard way used by typing tutors: one "word" equals five characters, and only correctly typed words count toward the result. That means the score cannot be inflated by mashing keys — sloppy speed shows up as a lower WPM and a falling accuracy figure instead. Timing uses your browser's high-precision clock, so results are consistent between runs, and the text itself is reshuffled from a sentence pool on every restart to prevent memorization.
Everything happens locally in your browser: no sign-up, no uploads, and nothing you type ever leaves your device. The test works the same on a laptop keyboard or an external mechanical board, and you can restart as many times as you like with one click. Pasting is blocked, so the score always reflects genuine typing.
As a reference point: casual typists usually land between 30 and 45 WPM, confident touch typists reach 60–80 WPM, and professional typists exceed 100 WPM with 98%+ accuracy. If you are learning touch typing, test yourself once a day at the same duration and track the trend — steady accuracy above 95% is the signal that you are ready to push for more speed.
