Joining a video call with a dead camera, a black frame or a picture that faces the wrong way is an avoidable embarrassment. This webcam test shows in one click what your camera actually outputs: a live preview, its real resolution, its real frame rate and the exact device name the browser sees.

The preview is mirrored by default — the way you are used to seeing yourself — with a toggle to view the un-mirrored image that other people get. The snapshot button captures a PNG frame so you can zoom in on sharpness, check the lighting or keep a before/after while adjusting the camera. A device picker lists every connected camera and updates automatically when you plug one in.

Nothing leaves your browser: the video is rendered locally from getUserMedia, never streamed, recorded or uploaded. Stopping the test releases the camera instantly and the camera indicator light turns off — you stay in control the whole time.

If the browser cannot open the camera, the tool explains why — access denied, no device, or camera busy in another app — and gives short, browser-specific steps for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari to fix it.
