This page opens the circle calculator set up for one specific conversion: you know the distance around a circle and want the distance across it. Enter the circumference and the diameter appears, with the division by π written out in full.

The conversion is a single step because π is defined as the ratio between the two: d = C ÷ π. Wrap a tape around a pipe and read 40; the pipe's diameter is 40 ÷ π ≈ 12.732395. This works for anything you can wrap but not cut — trunks, columns, pipes, wrists, cake tins.
