This page runs the speed test in spacebar mode: instead of mouse clicks, it counts how many times you can press the space key. The counter starts with your first press, every hit updates the display instantly, and at the end you get presses per second, your total, and an animal rank.

The spacebar is the biggest key on the keyboard and the only one most people hit with a thumb, which makes it the standard key for press-speed challenges. Good scores look similar to clicking: casual tapping lands around 5–7 presses per second, while practiced players exceed 10 by bouncing the thumb off the key instead of pressing it fully down.

Pick any duration from 1 to 100 seconds on the selector — short bursts show peak speed, long runs test thumb endurance. Key repeat is filtered out, so holding the key down scores nothing: only real presses count. Everything runs locally in your browser, and a finished test restarts with a single press.
