This pair is where the 1000-vs-1024 gap becomes most visible. Drive manufacturers use decimal units, so a "1 TB" disk holds 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. Windows divides that by 1,073,741,824 and shows roughly 931 — in binary gibibytes (GiB), labelled "GB". The larger the drive, the wider the apparent gap: about 7% at the terabyte scale. Both numbers are correct; they just use different units.
