About this tool

This page opens the steganography tool already switched to Encode mode, with a sample message — "Meet me at midnight" — filled in to show the kind of short, plain-text payload this technique is built for. To actually hide something, upload a PNG or BMP image using the panel below: the tool rewrites the least significant bit of each red, green and blue color value so the message is stored inside the picture data itself, with no visible change to how the image looks.

Because only the very lowest bit of each color channel changes, the visual difference between the original and the encoded image is undetectable to the eye — a photo that looked identical before and after could easily be carrying a hidden note this way. If you also enter a password, the message is encrypted with AES-GCM using a key derived through PBKDF2 before it is embedded, so even someone who suspects steganography and extracts the raw bits cannot read the text without that password.

Once you upload an image and submit, the tool embeds the message, shows a bit-plane preview of the color channels it modified, and gives you a download link for the resulting PNG — ready to share anywhere a normal image would go.

Example. Hiding the text hi writes its bits into the least significant bit of successive PNG color channels and saves stego_secret.png.

Limit. The bit string must fit in the color-channel count, and a PNG without the expected payload is reported as having no hidden message.
