This page opens the temperature converter preset to Celsius → Kelvin. The conversion is a pure offset: K = °C + 273.15, exactly. The kelvin is the SI base unit of temperature; its zero point is absolute zero, and one kelvin step equals one Celsius degree, which is why no multiplication is needed.

    Reference values: 0 °C = 273.15 K, 25 °C (standard lab temperature) = 298.15 K, 37 °C = 310.15 K, and 100 °C = 373.15 K. Absolute zero, the coldest possible temperature, is −273.15 °C = 0 K; nothing can be colder, so negative kelvin values do not occur.

Kelvin is the language of physics, chemistry and engineering: gas laws, thermodynamics and blackbody radiation all expect absolute temperature. Type Celsius and read Kelvin instantly — handy for homework, lab reports and checking that a formula got the +273.15 right.
