About this tool

This page opens the cron validator preloaded with `0 0 * * *`, the standard five-field expression for a job that runs exactly once a day at midnight. It's the single most common cron schedule in the wild — nightly backups, log rotation, daily report generation, cache warm-ups — because it's predictable, easy to reason about, and lands during the lowest-traffic window for most services.

Reading it field by field: minute `0`, hour `0`, then a `*` for day-of-month, month and day-of-week meaning 'every one of these, no restriction.' Together that's 'the 0th minute of the 0th hour, every day' — midnight, daily, no exceptions. The validator parses each of the five fields independently and confirms every one is within range the moment the page loads.

Edit the expression in the box below to shift the time — `30 2 * * *` for 2:30 AM, for instance — or change a field to something out of range, like an hour of `25`, to see exactly which field the validator rejects and why.

Example. The expression 0 9 * * 1-5 is reported valid, with minutes 0, hours 9 and day of week 1-5.

Limit. Only 5 or 6 whitespace-separated fields are accepted, and a passing result does not list future run times.
