The effect is honest image processing, not AI: the photo is converted to grayscale, lightly smoothed, run through Sobel edge detection and inverted, so outlines appear as dark strokes on paper-white. Photos with clear contours and good contrast produce the most convincing sketches; the intensity slider lets the original show through for a half-drawn look.
