This page opens the BMI calculator with the metric system preselected: type your height in centimeters and your weight in kilograms, and the index appears immediately. The metric formula is the original WHO definition — BMI equals weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared, so a 170 cm, 70 kg person gets 70 / 1.70² ≈ 24.2.
The color scale below the number shows where you land among the WHO bands: below 18.5 is underweight, 18.5–24.9 is the normal range, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30 or more splits into obesity classes I, II and III. The calculator also converts the normal band back into kilograms for your exact height, so you can see the healthy weight corridor rather than a single abstract number.
Everything runs locally in your browser — height and weight are never uploaded anywhere. If you think in feet, inches and pounds instead, switch the unit selector or open the imperial version of this calculator.
