This page opens the electricity cost calculator preset for a refrigerator: 150 watts as a round-the-clock average, 24 hours a day. A fridge is plugged in permanently, but its compressor cycles on and off, so the honest number for cost math is the average draw — typically 100–200 W for a modern household unit — rather than the compressor's nameplate peak.

At 150 W average the math works out to 3.6 kWh per day, roughly 108 kWh per month and about 1314 kWh per year. Enter your own price per kWh and the calculator turns that into money; because a fridge never gets a day off, even a modest tariff adds up to a noticeable annual figure, and it is one of the few appliances where the yearly view matters more than the daily one.

Your real number depends heavily on age, size and condition: the energy label states the measured yearly consumption of your exact model, and dividing it by 365 gives a far better figure than any generic average. Old or poorly sealed refrigerators can use two to three times more — worn door gaskets, iced-up freezers and a spot next to the oven all keep the compressor running longer.
