About this tool
This page opens the tool in HTML decoding mode — paste text full of entities like & or " and get the plain, readable characters back.
Decoding HTML entities is needed when text has been escaped once or even twice along the way — scraped pages, RSS feeds, exports and API responses often arrive with & where a simple & belongs.
The full tool also escapes HTML and encodes or decodes URLs — everything runs locally in your browser, and nothing you paste is uploaded.
Example. URL encode turns a b into a%20b. HTML encode turns a<b> into a<b> and a/b into a/b. A broken percent escape in URL decode is written as Error: plus the decoder message.
Limit. URL encode is encodeURIComponent of the whole box, not encodeURI. HTML encode only maps & < > " ' and /. The parameter grid is shown only while encoding a URL that has a query.
