This page opens the percentage calculator in decrease mode: enter a percent and a number, and the tool subtracts that percent, showing the final value and the multiplication behind it — for example 200 − 25% = 200 × 0.75 = 150.
Subtracting a percentage is the math of discounts and reductions: a 30% sale price, a 12% fee taken off a payout, or a value shrinking by some percent year over year. The one-step shortcut is multiplying by (1 − X ÷ 100), and the calculator displays that factor with every result.
One classic pitfall: decreasing by X% does not undo increasing by X%. Raise 100 by 20% and you get 120, but cutting 120 by 20% gives 96, not 100. Experiment freely — the result updates live, all computed locally in your browser with nothing uploaded.
