This page opens the percentage calculator in "What is X% of Y?" mode — the most common percentage question of all. Type the percent into the first field and the number into the second, and the answer appears immediately, together with the exact multiplication used to get it.

The rule behind it is simple: a percent is just a fraction of one hundred, so X% of Y equals Y × X ÷ 100. That is how you find that 25% of 200 is 50, that a 19% VAT on a 120 purchase adds 22.80, or that 7.5% of a 2,400 salary is 180. Decimals work too — 0.5% of 1,000 is 5.

Because the tool shows the worked formula under every answer, it doubles as a quick way to teach or re-learn percentage math. Everything is calculated locally in your browser as you type; nothing is uploaded and there is no button to press.
