This page opens the timer set to 52 minutes of work followed by a 17-minute break — the ratio that came out of a widely cited productivity-tracking study of the most productive employees. Rather than picking a round number, the study measured what naturally high performers actually did: they worked in longer, uninterrupted stretches than the classic Pomodoro allows, then rested for noticeably longer too.

The reasoning is different from the 25-minute model. A 25-minute block is short enough that it can end just as you are reaching real depth of concentration; 52 minutes gives you nearly twice as long to sink into a task before you are interrupted, which suits work that needs sustained mental momentum — writing, analysis, coding — rather than quick, choppy tasks. The 17-minute break is the trade-off that makes the longer work stretch sustainable: it is long enough to genuinely disengage rather than just glance away.

Use this preset if the standard 25/5 split keeps cutting you off right as you find your rhythm. The long-break interval and long-break length keep their normal defaults here since the 52/17 method itself doesn't specify them — adjust those separately if you want a distinct longer pause after several rounds.
