Price per Unit Calculator

Shelf prices are designed to be hard to compare: one brand sells 500 g for 2.50, another 1 kg for 4.00, a third 12 oz for 3.20. A price per unit calculator removes the packaging from the equation — enter the price, quantity and unit of each product (2 to 4 of them, labels optional) and every one is converted to the same yardstick: price per 100 g, per kilogram and per ounce for weight, per 100 ml and per litre for liquids, or per piece for counted items.

The cheapest offer is highlighted, and every other product is tagged with exactly how many percent more you would pay for the same amount. In the example above, 2.50 for 500 g works out to 5.00 per kg while 4.00 for 1 kg is just 4.00 per kg — the big pack is the better deal and the small one costs 25% more per kilogram. That percentage view is what makes the tool useful in a supermarket aisle: the overpay is a single number, not a mental division exercise.

The calculator is currency-agnostic (enter prices in any currency, the comparison is relative) and unit-aware: it will refuse to compare grams against litres, but freely mixes metric and imperial within one kind — g, kg, oz and lb together, ml and l together.
