This page opens the comparison with the price per ounce as the headline number — the unit printed on US shelf tags — with rows preset to ounces and pounds: enter what each pack costs and its weight, and every product is restated as its cost per oz.
A 16 oz jar and a 1 lb jar are the same amount, but a 12 oz bag at 3.20 (0.267/oz) against a 1 lb bag at 4.00 (0.25/oz) is not obvious at a glance — the calculator normalizes them and shows the smaller bag costs about 7% more per ounce. Metric packs join the same comparison: grams and kilograms convert to ounces automatically.
Up to four products are compared at once, the cheapest per ounce is highlighted, and the price per 100 g and per kg appear alongside for imported goods labelled metric. Copy the whole comparison as plain text with one click.
