French OCR — Extract French Text from Images

This page opens the image-to-text tool with French preselected — drop an image and run recognition. The French model reads all the diacritics that make or break French text: é, è, ê, ë, à, ç, œ and the rest. An English-only model strips those accents, and in French that changes meaning — a (has) versus à (to), ou (or) versus où (where).

It works well on scanned letters, forms, book pages, menus and photographed signs. French typography uses thin spaces before punctuation like ; : ! ? — OCR output may normalize those spaces, so expect to tidy spacing slightly if you need typographically perfect text.

The recognition is fully local: your image never leaves the browser, and only the French traineddata model is downloaded once, then cached. Copy the extracted text or download it as a .txt file.
