Take 3.14159: the hundredths digit is 4, the digit after it is 1, which is less than 5, so everything past 3.14 is simply dropped. With 2.675 the deciding digit is exactly 5, so the 7 rises and the answer is 2.68 — many calculators and spreadsheets say 2.67 here, because the binary float they store is fractionally below 2.675.
